The problem? Many of the big-name candles I loved came with fragrances that left me with migraines instead of the relaxing experience I was looking for.
I became fascinated by the process and started learning everything I could about wax, wicks, fragrance, and what actually goes into creating a beautiful candle.
I wanted something thoughtfully made with ingredients I felt good about bringing into my space, without sacrificing the rich, lasting fragrance that made me love candles in the first place.
Somewhere between boredom and curiosity, I decided to start making candles myself, using ingredients I felt better about bringing into my home and creating something I could genuinely enjoy (yay no more migraines!!).
At first, they were just for me. Then my friends started smelling them. They loved them and wanted their own. What began as a creative escape at home during COVID slowly turned into my first candle business, The Wicked Lit Candle Co. In my early twenties, it was bold, funny, a little vulgar, and heavily influenced by Boston street style. It fit that version of me perfectly.
As I grew and eventually moved across the country to California, my taste evolved. What started as Wicked Lit eventually became ALLEGRE: a more refined, elevated take on the same passion for scent, creativity, and the way a candle can completely change the feeling of a moment.
